SFL held a meeting on November 9, 2022,to promote the national first-class undergraduate construction program, with a focus on the English major construction program over the next three years. Deputy Dean Wu Peng，the Director of the English Department, chaired the meeting, which was attended by Dean Li Chongyue and faculty members of the English Department. Dean Li Chongyue, made a keynote speech to highlight the significance of the first-class construction program and noted that it is a long-term, systematic endeavor. Five perspectives were elaborated on the English major building and subsequent work plan: the fundamental state of the construction team, the overarching objective, the construction activities, the operational plan, and the anticipated measurable accomplishments. According to Dean Li, the general aim of the first-class undergraduate construction program is to adhere to the principles and spirit of the National Standards and Guidelines, completely implement the essential mission of establishing morals and developing talents, demonstrate the concept of modern liberal arts construction, and emphasize the training direction of international affairs and international communication skills of English majors based on traditional English teaching. In the meantime, Dean Li remarked that specialized construction is challenging and hoped everyone would strengthen their confidence and sense of duty, swiftly meet challenges, compensate for inadequacies, and constantly improve all work through benchmarking. Afterward, SFL will prioritize the national first-class construction program and secure its development through task allocation and cohesion. (School of Foreign Languages )
