Days ago, the Jiangsu University College English Teaching Team headed by Zhang Yu, Huang Yadan, Pan Xiujie, Ji Lijun and Xu Huixia of the School of Foreign Languages made an exceptional performance and won a special award at the national tryout of 2020 FLTRP “Star Teacher” Contest. This is the second time Jiangsu University team has won a special award for national tryout since the individual contest became a team contest.
The “Star Teacher” Contest was initiated in April 2020. 406 College English teaching teams from all over China attended the contest, among whom 64 were promoted to the national semifinals.
The topic for the 2020 FLTRP “Star Teacher” Contest is “A foreign language course and its teaching design that combines language teaching with educating people”. It is aimed at deepening the concept of educating people, elevating the teaching level, optimizing the teaching design, improving the teaching quality, promoting the cooperation and coordination, and cultivating an excellent teaching team. Jiangsu University team has been actively exploring the advanced teaching concept and innovative teaching method, trying to integrate the course ideology and politics into the College English teaching skillfully by shouldering the responsibility of inculcating moral teaching and cultivating talents together. Special efforts have been made to carry out moral teaching in the course of teaching design and classroom instruction. Through perfect design and meticulous preparation, they emerged out of the more than 400 teams and were promoted to the next-stage contest. That provides a good opportunity for the School of Foreign Languages to further excavate the cultural connotation and values in foreign language courses, to appoint teachers to explore the effective means of combining language education with educating people, to construct an outstanding teaching faculty with high political quality, moral standards and teaching capability.
