On June 5, the SFL Party Committee Theory Learning Central Group held a special session on studying the gist of the annual sessions of "NPC & CPPCC" in the SFL Conference Room. All members of the SFL Party Committee Theory Learning Central Group participated in the study activities. Zhang Mingping and Yuan Haiyu, members of the University Party Committee Inspection Working Group, attended the meeting as nonvoting delegates. The study meeting was presided over by Party Committee Secretary Xie Zhifang.
At the meeting, all the conferees, headed by Xie Zhifang, learned the important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jingping at 4 parallel sessions during the annual sessions of "NPC & CPPCC", the Government Work Report made by Li Keqiang and the Work Report by Zhao Leji at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Discipline Inspection Commission of the CPC. Then, Dean Li Chongyue made a keynote speech entitled “Learning the supplement and revision concerning education to the Government Work Report by the National People's Congress”. His speech comprises five parts, focusing on “the serving function of education to economy and society". In his speech Dean Li also elaborated the high-quality development of the cause of the School of Foreign Languages. Zhang Li and Su Jianhong, two deputy deans of the SFL, reported their achievements in learning the gist of the annual meetings of “NPC & CPPCC”. Other conferees also reported their own learning experience and gains.
In his concluding remarks, Xie Zhifang noted that, under the guidance of Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era, the annual sessions of “NPC & CPPCC” this year highlighted the superiority of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. At the same time, he stressed that it is of great guiding significance for the SFL to comprehensively and deeply study the spirit of the annual meetings of “NPC & CPPCC” in order to do well in the overall Party construction and ideological and political work, to comprehensively promote the strict governance of the Party, to unswervingly promote the high-quality development, and to win both the victories of epidemic prevention and control and the development of the School of Foreign Languages. He required the whole faculty to be fully enthused at learning and implementing the spirit of the annual meetings of “NPC & CPPCC”, and leaders should take the lead in the learning process. He also asked the whole faculty to take the theory learning as an opportunity to vigorously strengthen the political construction of the leading group of the School of Foreign Languages, to strengthen the confidence and determination in the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, to promote the construction of first-class work style, and to ensure the high-quality development of the School of Foreign Languages.
