On June 5, the School of Foreign Languages hosted Special Session on Employment Promotion in the Conference Room of the Main Building. The meeting was held to better implement the University’s policy on employment and the recent instructions of Vice President Zhao Yutao on the employment work of the School of Foreign Language, and further improve the employment of graduates in 2020. All SFL leaders, heads of English Department, Japanese Department, the General Office, deputy director of Students Office, and counselors of graduate classes participated in the meeting. Dean Li Chongyue presided over the meeting.
To begin with, all the conferees learned the spirit of the State Teleconference on the Employment and Entrepreneurship of General College and University Graduates under the leadership of Dean Li Chongyue. Dean Li reiterated the meeting spirit saying that the employment of graduates is concerned with both the college or university development and the welfare of each family, so we put priority to the employment of graduates under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Then Deputy Dean and Deputy Party Committee Secretary Xia Jianru reported the work that has been done by the School of Foreign Languages to give instructions on employment in the past and declared the measures to be taken by the School to promote employment this semester. Zhu Yanjie, deputy director of the Students Office, gave an account of the current employment situation of undergraduates and postgraduates. Afterwards, the conferees discussed the School’s efforts to publicize employment information, to arrange students for online and offline job fairs, to contact cooperative enterprises, and to explore more employment channels. They put forward many reasonable suggestions for the employment work of the School.
To sum up, the newly appointed Party Committee Secretary Xie Zhifang stressed the importance of doing well in the employment work in the context of regular epidemic prevention and control. He said that we should further strengthen leadership, adhere to the principle of changing with the circumstances, implement precise policies, and clarify policies, information, and situation. He also emphasized the importance of mobilizing the whole School faculty, making concerted efforts, and continuing to increase the employment guidance and service for graduates. He prompted all of us to strive to improve the employment rate and quality of graduates so as to promote the connotative development of the School and constantly improve its quality level.
