On November 22, 2019 “Women’s Tribute to the Party in the New Era” Jiangsu University Women’s Federation Work Conference was held in the Second Lecture Hall. The English Department of the School of Foreign Languages was officially conferred the title of “Outstanding Women’s Teams” by the CPC Jiangsu University Committee.
The English Department is an outstanding faculty united under the same banner and willing to make contributions tacitly. It comprises 14 faculty members, 10 of whom are females. The percentage is 71%. It is a typical tertiary teaching and research team mainly made up of women. For years the women teachers of the English Department have made pains-taking efforts to improve their work shoulder to shoulder with the men teachers with the care and under the leadership of the School of Foreign Languages Party Committee. They have made great contributions to all undertakings of the School. In recent years, one woman teacher has won the honorary title of the 7th “Jiangsu University Pace-setter in the New Long March”, two teachers have won a first prize at the School of Foreign Languages Teaching Competition, a first prize at the National Teaching Competition, and a second and a first prize at the Provincial Teaching Competition, respectively. The students coached by five teachers have won three national awards and nine provincial awards at the business English skill competition, interpreting competition, translation competition, the National College English Competition, etc.
The School of Foreign Languages Party Committee has offered much help to the English Department with the effort of the English Department to win the title of “Outstanding Women’s Teams”. An overall plan was created for the work to guarantee its implementation in an orderly and efficient manner.
