On November 21, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology Professor Wu Wenquan delivered in Z513 of the Main Building a lecture entitled “How to apply for the National Social Science Fund”. The lecture was presided over by School of Foreign Languages Deputy Dean & Foreign Languages and Literatures Discipline Pace-setter Professor Su Jianhong. Master supervisors and Ph.Ds of the School, as well as School of Foreign Languages Dean Professor Li Chongyue participated in the seminar.
Professor Wu Wenquan’s lecture comprises nine parts, including overall conception, problem awareness, project basis, object of study, overall framework, ideas and methods, innovation, etc. He shared his own experiences of writing the application for the National Social Science Fund, highlighting the do’s and don’ts for the application writing. He expounded each part of his lecture with particular reference to his own key project of the National Social Science Fund entitled “Poverty-relief writing of the Victorian Era in the UK”. His lecture is both enlightening and informative, said the conferees.
Professor Wu Wenquan, Lit.D, is discipline pace-setter of the School of Foreign Languages, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology. He was a former dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Nantong University. He studied in succession as a visiting scholar in Jackson State University and New York State University. His academic affiliations include a director of China Association for the Study of American Literature, a managing director of Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies, a managing director of Jiangsu Translators Association, etc. His publications add up to over 60 articles, four monographs and five textbooks. He heads eight projects at or above the provincial or ministerial level. He has completed one project of the National Social Science Fund and is currently heading a key project of the National Social Science Fund. Wu’s lecture at the School of Foreign Languages offers meaningful guidance to the School faculty on how to apply for the National Social Science Fund, meanwhile promoting the academic exchanges between colleges and universities in Zhenjiang.
