On November 23, the 9th JSU Japanese Public Speaking Contest was held at the Conference Hall of Jiangsu University Library. Jiangsu University Vice President Zhao Yutao made the opening speech. School of Foreign Languages Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong and Dean Li Chongyue, Jiangsu University Teaching Affairs Office Deputy Director Xue Hongli and International Office Deputy Director Huang Ting, School of Foreign Languages Party Committee Deputy Secretary & Deputy Dean Xia Jianru and Deputy Dean Wang Ying participated in the contest and awarded certificates to the prize winners.
The two-stage competition comprises a prepared speech and a Q-A session. It is aimed at demonstrating the graceful bearing of the young college students, promoting the exchange of ideas, boosting the campus culture, cultivating college students’ Japanese oral communicative capability and their responsibility on the spot. The competitors gave expression to their dreams, improved their application ability for Japanese, and were further determined about their future planning and goal of development. There are 12 competitors in all, two of whom won a first prize and in the meanwhile an Award for Sino-Japanese Friendship.
The competition this year is one of the events held in celebrating the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the twin-city relations between Zhenjiang city of China and Tsu city of Japan. The Major Delegation headed by Tsu Major Yasuyuki Maeba, the City Council Delegation headed by Councilor Yukio Oka, and the Townspeople Delegation headed by Delegation Head Yamguchi Hisahiko and Deputy Head Shigeru Kusafuka, as well as leaders of Zhenjiang Municipal International Office participated in the competition. The Tsu City Major delivered a heartfelt speech and heads of the Japanese delegations awarded certificates to the prize winners.
