On October 25th, Professor Lu Tao of Hiroshima University in Japan visited Jiangsu University and delivered a lecture in the Third Lecture Hall of the Conference Center entitled “China in the eyes of Japanese college students”. The lecture was chaired by Deputy Dean Wang Ying. More than 100 staff and postgraduates and undergraduates majoring in Japanese from the School of Foreign Languages attended the lecture.
Based on the relevant materials collected in the Chinese class of Hiroshima University in recent years, focusing on China in knowledge, China in literary and artistic works, China in news media, and China viewed abroad, Professor Lu Tao gave a succinct introduction in his lecture to the actual views held by Japanese students on China. He cited examples of the actual life to enliven his lecture, pointing out the problems with deepening the understanding of the Japanese people about China and the probable solutions to these problems in the future. His lecture is lively and vivid, full of humorous diction. The Q-A session both activated the atmosphere of the lecture and fully ignited the students' enthusiasm for learning.
Professor Lu Tao is a faculty member of social sciences at the Graduate School of Hiroshima University. His research orientations mainly include Japanese Studies, Chinese Studies, a Contrastive Study of the Japanese and the Chinese Language, and intercultural communication. He focuses his studies on Japanese Linguistics and Sino-Japanese Intercultural Communication research. By now he has published nearly 80 series books and research papers, including his book entitled A Study of the Grammaticalization of “Space Verbs” in Chinese.
The staff and students present at the lecture said that they have broadened their knowledge through this lecture, getting a deeper understanding of Japanese language learning. The lecture ended in a round of warm applause. (School of Foreign Languages)
