On June 8, after intense competition, the 2025 FLTRP National College Foreign Language Teachers "Teaching Star" Competition Jiangsu Division Finals concluded at Suzhou Institute of Technology. As a highly authoritative and influential large-scale event in the field of national college foreign language education, this competition attracted 40 elite teams from undergraduate institutions across the province. The "Understanding Contemporary China" College English team from our school (Li Rui, Zhuang Xiaomin, Kong Lingxuan, Ren He, Zhang Huiwan) secured the provincial runner-up position with the outstanding achievement of ranking third overall in the province and first in the "Understanding Contemporary China" category, successfully advancing to the national semifinals. Meanwhile, the "Understanding Contemporary China" English Major team from our school (Ma Ying, Lai Cencen, Chen Chaoying, Cai Shanshan, Yao Wei) also delivered an excellent performance, earning the third prize in the provincial competition.
The theme of this competition was "Effective Use of Foreign Language Textbooks: Narrating China, Communicating with the World." During the event, the College English team deeply integrated AI resources, focusing on the core theme of "Telling China’s Stories Well in English." Guided by the three-dimensional teaching logic of "structure–content–communication," they aimed to help students master the structural expression methods of cross-cultural narratives and enhance their language proficiency and cross-cultural communication skills in telling China’s stories to international audiences. The English Major team centered on the theme of the "Harmony in Diversity" perspective on civilizations, assisting students in mastering argumentative discourse, improving core skills in argumentative writing, and fostering cultural confidence and an inclusive spirit within a cross-cultural context. The thoughtful design and outstanding teaching performances of both teams were highly praised by the judges and fellow observers.

The FLTRP "Teaching Star" Competition is a large-scale public welfare event for foreign language teachers in universities across China. It is widely recognized in the field of national higher education foreign language teaching and has been consistently included in the "National Teaching Development Index for University Faculty" by the China Association of Higher Education.
The School of Foreign Languages places great emphasis on teaching competitions and encourages faculty members to actively participate in various teaching contests. By leveraging competitions to promote teaching, the School aims to enhance the development of its teaching staff and advance pilot reforms in foreign language education. This teaching competition serves as an exemplary model for promoting the "Three-Into" initiative (integrating into classrooms, textbooks, and minds) in college foreign language education and for cultivating students' international communication skills.
