On the afternoon of May 13, the School of Foreign Languages conducted visits to teacher education internship bases for the English (Teacher Education) program in Dagan and Jurong. Led by Dean Li Chongyue, a team visited Jiangsu Dagan High School, while Vice Dean Li Jiajun led another team to Jurong Experimental Senior High School and Jiangsu Jurong High School. During these visits, they held discussions with intern students from the teacher education program, as well as leaders, supervising teachers, and alumni from the internship bases. The aim was to gain an in-depth understanding of the internship experiences of third-year students and to engage in thorough exchanges on topics such as the development of the teacher education program, practical teaching, and university-school collaboration.

During the visit to Jiangsu Dagan High School, both sides engaged in discussions on topics such as the cultivation of teacher education students, the implementation of teacher education accreditation standards, and the deepening of collaboration in building education internship bases. Principal Huang Weirong expressed gratitude to the School of Foreign Languages for consistently providing outstanding interns and spoke highly of their solid professional competence and proactive teaching attitude. Dean Li Chongyue stated that the School will continue to optimize the training system for teacher education students, strengthen the collaborative education mechanism with secondary schools, and contribute more high-quality teachers to basic education.

At the meeting with intern students during the visit to Jurong Experimental Senior High School, Vice Principal Zha Sheng and several supervising teachers expressed their appreciation for the overall performance of our interns. They particularly noted that the interns demonstrated strong professional competence in areas such as classroom observation, classroom management, and teaching practice, exhibiting a positive teaching attitude and well-structured lesson plans. Feng Yiping, an outstanding alumnus of Jiangsu University, emphasized that the cultivation of homeroom teacher management skills and comprehensive qualities is key to fostering the growth of interns. Some supervising teachers also suggested that interns need to continuously enhance their adaptability to new teaching materials and the new college entrance examination system.

During the visit to Jiangsu Jurong High School, four internship supervisors shared insights on the performance of the teacher education interns from two perspectives: homeroom teacher guidance and subject-specific instruction. Vice Principal Xuan Jin acknowledged the overall competence and work effectiveness of the interns from our school. The supervisors particularly noted that the interns actively participated in daily classroom management tasks such as morning reading sessions and organizing recess exercises, demonstrating strong organizational and coordination skills in designing and implementing themed class meetings. In terms of teaching practice, the interns prepared thoroughly for lessons, fostered positive classroom interactions, and effectively integrated theoretical knowledge from their university studies with the practical realities of secondary school teaching.
While recognizing these achievements, both schools also offered constructive suggestions. On one hand, they recommended continuing to strengthen foundational teaching skills, including improving blackboard design and handwriting with chalk. On the other hand, they emphasized the importance of cultivating proficiency in modern educational technologies, particularly in mastering and applying new tools such as AI-assisted teaching.
During the visit, the school leadership warmly greeted the interns and inquired in detail about their work and daily lives. The interns expressed that the internship experience not only enhanced their teaching skills but also deepened their understanding of the responsibilities and mission of the teaching profession. Moving forward, the school will further implement the principles of teacher education accreditation, continuously refine the talent cultivation system for the English (Teacher Education) program, strengthen practical teaching components, deepen university-school collaboration, and persistently enhance the quality of training for future English teachers.
