From August 19 to 21, the 2019 National Conference on College German Teaching and Testing was held in Lanzhou University. Wang Shu at the SFL European Language Department attended the meeting and participated in the parallel session of “Online and Offline Blended Gold course”.
The newly elected German Language Group members of the College Foreign Languages Teaching Steering Committee under the Ministry of Education, leader of the German Culture Center in Beijing·Goethe Institute (China), and German teachers from 48 universities in China and 5 representatives of the leading German presses attended the meeting. The theme of this conference is “Creating German Gold Course and Improving Teaching Quality”. Professor Zhao Jin, head of the German Language Group of the College Foreign Languages Teaching Steering Committee under the Ministry of Education and professor of Tongji University, made a report entitled “College German teaching: status quo, problems and solutions--based on the summary and reflection of the 2019 National University German Teaching Survey”. In the paper, he summarizes the types, teaching hours, assessment and teaching effects of college German teaching in the whole country. He also points out the existing problems in teaching resources, teaching staff and teaching mode, as well as the focus of the newly elected German Language Group of the College the German Language Group of the College Foreign Languages Teaching Steering Committee under the Ministry of Education Assistant Professor Tang Chunmei, introduced to the delegates the marking of the German Band 4 and Band 6 Examinations in 2019, and summarized the registration data, the distribution of the results, the future assessment criteria and the examination proposition orientation of the German Band 4 and Band 6 Examinations.
In the parallel session on the construction of “Gold German Classes”, the front-line German teachers from all over the country expressed their views and shared with their peers their experiences and methods in teaching practice. In order to further improve the ability of teachers to optimize the use of modern educational technology, strengthen the close cooperation of colleges and universities and build the confidence of College German “Gold Classes”, suggestions have been made on the construction of systematic college German courses, the production of micro-courses to overcome the difficulties in German learning, and the better design of the contents and steps for flipped classrooms.
