From July 28 to 31, the national semi-final of 2019 FLTRP Cup Teacher Contest (College English Teaching) was held in Wuhan. The JSU College English Teaching Team comprising Kong Lingxuan, Wu Yuanyuan, Zhu Xiaoyu and Cai Shanhan of the School of Foreign Languages International Language Course Center (College English Teaching Department III) won a second prize at the contest.
In light of the conception of “From Gold Course to Gold Class”, the 2019 FLTRP Cup Teacher Contest first organized a team contest that highlights the advanced, creative and challenging features of the contest. At the stage of national online tryout, each team should submit a 45-minute video of live classroom instruction and the overall teaching design of the contest course, which are supposed to feature the “Two Qualities and One Dimension” of the “Gold Course”. JSU College English Teaching Team emerged out of nearly 300 teaching teams from all over the country to win a special award at the national quarter-final. The team was entered into the national semi-final held in Wuhan on July 28. At the semi-final, JSU College English Teaching Team stuck to the “Effect-oriented” course design theme, skillfully integrated the pragma-dialectical theory and the political ideological education into the course and classroom design, and highlighted the advanced, creative and challenging features of the “Gold Course”. Meanwhile, the team effectively demonstrated the “One Body Two Wings College English Teaching Model” initiated by Jiangsu University and our teaching achievements in integrating political ideology into College English Teaching.
This is the first time that JSU College English teachers have participated in the group competition of FLTRP Cup Teacher Contest. Moreover, the team has created good results through meticulous design and conscientious course preparation. The International Language Course Center at SFL shall take this opportunity to complete the virtuous cycle of “Promoting Teaching by Contest”, go on instigating the faculty to organize teams to systematically and regularly participate in teaching contests of all kinds, to explore advanced teaching notion and innovation, to construct “Gold Courses” and “Gold Classes”, to constantly promote the teaching quality and level, to meet the individualized learning needs of students, and to make contributions to the promotion of the University’s undergraduate teaching quality.
