On the afternoon of April 26, in order to further implement the guiding principles of the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on Implementing the “Double Ten Thousand Program" for First-class Undergraduate Majors (Jiao-Gao-Ting Missive No. 18, 2019) and fulfill the requirements of Jiangsu University for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors, the School of Foreign Languages held the Seminar on the Construction of and Application for First-class Undergraduate Majors to speed up the deployment of the tasks concerned. Dean Li Chongyue, Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong, discipline leaders, department deans or directors and key faculty members of the majors concerned participated in the meeting. Deputy Dean Wu Peng chaired the meeting.
Secretary Lu Yunsong first communicated the main contents of the speeches made by the university leaders at the Conference to Promote the Construction of First-class Undergraduate Majors. He encouraged everyone at the meeting to do their best for the application for a first-class undergraduate major. Dean Li Chongyue encouraged, prompted and personally coordinated the key work of the application, offering his personal opinions and suggestions on the specific issues of the application. Deputy Dean Wu Peng headed the participants to conscientiously study the standards for the first-class undergraduate major construction. After pointing out the disadvantages in the major construction of the departments concerned at present, Wu deployed the SFL tasks of the application for the first-class undergraduate major construction. The participants of the meeting pooled their wisdom to coordinate the collection of the information of the English and Japanese majors needed for the application. Then they elaborated on the landmark achievements of specialty construction, reform measures and results, team construction and grass-roots teaching organization construction, graduate quality, main ideas and measures for major construction and reform etc. Finally they formed a preliminary report on all data concerned.
At the meeting, all participants were eager to offer their suggestions, saying that they would make their greatest effort for the application for the first-class undergraduate major construction, that they would take this opportunity to check their work against the standards, further promote the major construction and innovation of the SFL, and continuously improve the major construction level and the quality of talent cultivation.
