SFL holds Promotion Conference on Constructing the Simulation Laboratory and the Virtual Simulation Project

 

 

On the afternoon of April 9, the School of Foreign Languages held the Promotion Conference on Constructing the Simulation Laboratory and the Virtual Simulation Project in the SFL Meeting Room in accordance with the School’s deployment on the key annual tasks. Dean and deputy dean of the Center for the Autonomous Learning of Foreign Languages, as well as deans and course leaders of all SFL departments in charge of undergraduate teaching attended the meeting jointly chaired by Deputy Dean Wu Peng and Deputy Dean Wang Ying. The participants added up to more than 20.

At the meeting Deputy Dean Wu Peng announced the members of the SFL Leading Group for the Simulation Laboratory Construction certified by the Joint Party and Administration Meeting of the SFL. Then the participants together studied the concept, national policy concerned, practical needs, construction significance, merits and demerits and core objective of the virtual simulation experiment. They also held heated discussions on the application of simulation laboratory to foreign language instruction, the construction orientation of the project, and the specific goals involved. After the discussions the participants agreed that the simulation laboratory to be constructed by the SFL should be both up-to-the-sky and down-to-the-earth, that is to say the project should dock with the construction criteria of the national level and in the meanwhile focus on the cultivation objective of the international talents of the University, provide powerful support for the foreign language instruction of each department of the SFL (especially training on the basic language skills), and create new growth points for the teaching research of the SFL faculty.

The Conference launched the simulation laboratory construction of the School of Foreign Languages, clarifying the construction orientation and core tasks of the project, and lay a good foundation for the scheduled project investigation and the formulation of the concrete construction planning.
