Days ago, a grand ceremony was held at the Japan Studies Center at Beijing Foreign Studies University for the 11th “Casino Cup” Excellent Master’s Thesis Award for Japan Studies in China. Zhao Rong, 2018 JSU Japan Studies MA candidate supervised by Associate Professor Lu Xueying of the School of Foreign Languages, won a third prize of the social cultural group for her master’s thesis entitled “A comparative study of the post-Second World War anniversary speeches delivered by Japanese prime ministers--from the perspective of CDA”.
The selection activity for the “Casino Cup” Excellent Master’s Thesis Award for Japan Studies in China was initiated in 2008. It is sponsored by the Japanese Branch of the Supervisory Board for the Instruction of Foreign Language Majors under the Chinese Ministry of Education, the China Association for Japanese Teaching, the Center for Japan Studies at Beijing, and Casino (China) Trading Company Ltd. The selection was conducted for the purpose of promoting the exchanges between different colleges and universities in China, and cultivating excellent students of Japan studies that will bridge the communication between China and Japan.
In recent years, the Master Program of Foreign Languages and Literatures housed by the School of Foreign Languages has taken consistent measures to enhance the quality of postgraduate education, to strengthen the management of postgraduate training processes and stages, and to reinforce the quality control of master’s theses.
