SFL faculty win prizes at JAFLS Conference

 

 

From November 23-25, School of Foreign Languages English Department Dean & Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies (JAFLS) Director Professor Wu Qinghong, together with her colleague Professor Wan Xuemei, attended “Foreign Literature Workshop of 12th Jiangsu Social Science Circles Symposium & 2018 Annual Meeting of Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies and Foreign Affairs Committee of Jiangsu Writers Association”.  To commemorate the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up and the 30^th anniversary of Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies, JAFLS granted prizes to specialists and scholars that have made outstanding achievements in the field of foreign literature studies. Professor Wu Qinghong and Professor Wan Xuemei each won a second prize for their achievements. What’s more, Professor Wan Xuemei was newly elected a director of the JAFLS at the meeting.

The meeting with the theme of “Foreign Literature Studies and High-quality Development of Jiangsu Province” was sponsored by Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies and hosted by Yancheng Teachers College. This year’s meeting welcomed nearly 150 specialist and scholars from Jiangsu colleges and universities including Soochow University and Hohai University, as well as Jiangsu Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences Party Group Member & Vice President Xu Zhishun, Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies President & Nanjing University Professor Wan Shouren, Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies Vice President Xue Jiabao, China Writers Association 9th National Committee Member Yan Zhaoyan,  Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies Vice President & Nanjing University School of Foreign Languages Dean Yan Jincai, Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies Vice President & Jiangsu Yilin Press President Gu Aibin, and Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies Secretary General & Nanjing Normal University Dr. Lv Honglin.

The participation of the SFL faculty in the meeting has promoted the academic exchanges between the SFL faculty and their colleagues in Jiangsu province, helping publicize the academic achievements of the SFL and import helpful experiences that will further boost the development of foreign literature studies of the SFL.  (School of Foreign Languages)
