From June 6 to 8, the 14th CAIC International Symposium was held in Shandong University. The theme of the 2018 symposium is “Intercultural Education and a Human Community with Shared Destiny”. SFL Associate Professor Li Jiajun attended the meeting and delivered a speech titled “A visual approach to intercultural capability based on Citespace”. His speech was well acclaimed by the participants at the meeting. Dr. Li chaired the parallel session of the International Dissemination of the Chinese culture as well.
At the symposium, Dr. Li Jiajun also exchanged ideas with scholars and experts from both China and abroad on issues like the instruction of the course of Intercultural Communication, studies on international students, the assessment of intercultural capability, and the integration of intercultural education and foreign language education.
The international studies are now actively meeting the challenges posed by the globalization and the international education, paying attention to the colorful intercultural practice emanating from the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the overseas study of the Chinese students, the international students in China, the intercultural foreign language education, and the “going global” of the Chinese culture. The intercultural studies are also of positive significance to the implementation of the international strategy of Jiangsu University.
