On May 26, 20 JSU students participated in the paper rating and presentation at the 4th International Symposium for College Students held at Nanjing Audit University. Zhou Tianbao and Liang Huiying of Grade 15, English Majors, the School of Foreign Languages won a prize for excellent papers (Supervisors: Zhu Yanjie, Mao Weiqiang).
The 4th International Symposium for College Students simultaneously in 9 Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Qingdao, Nanjing, Dalian, Wuhan, Kunming and Guangzhou, in line with the national initiative to construct first-class universities and first-class principles, to cultivate the international communicative ability and the international competency of college students and to propel the advancement of college academic English teaching and research. The theme of this symposium is “Sustainable development and innovation: humans, environment, economy and technological development”.
In recent years, the School of Foreign Languages have made dramatically improved the basic English skills and the critical thinking ability of its students by consolidating the basics and highlighting the teaching quality in accordance with the School objectives for a new era of College English and English majors prefixed by the School and adhering to the cultivation principles of “combining classroom instruction with extracurricular/overseas practice and integrating the critical thinking ability and intercultural communicative ability into the cultivation of language skills for practical use”.
