From May 26-27, the “Seminar on Integrating Political & Ideological Education into College Foreign Language Courses” sponsored by the Higher Education Meeting Center was held in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province. Faculty representatives from more than 20 colleges and universities in China attended the meeting. SFL Dean Assistant Wu Peng was invited to attend the meeting and delivered a coaching lecture jointly with Professor Wang Lan at Shanghai International Studies University.
In his lecture titled “Political & Ideological education resource development and teaching design for College English courses: a case of the practice and exploration in Jiangsu University”, Associate Professor Wu Peng systematically introduced the necessity, urgency and practicability of implementing the political & ideological education in College English courses. He elaborated on the collection of political & ideological education resources from College English courses and the basic teaching notion and teaching approaches involved. Wu’s lecture won a universal acclaim from the participants at as well as the sponsor of the seminar.
The integration of political & ideological education into College English courses is one of the key teaching reform projects that have been constructed by the School of Foreign Languages since September 2017. The related measures and working methods that have been adopted have aroused widespread concern on and off the campus. Its influence can be felt even outside of Jiangsu province.
