From May 19-20, the 2018 Jiangsu Translators Association Annual Meeting & Symposium was held in Soochow University. SFL Deputy Dean Professor Li Chongyue headed a delegation of faculty members and students of the translation discipline to attend the meeting at Suzhou.
The symposium comprises five parallel sessions: Chinese and foreign translation theories and a multi-dimensional approach to translation; studies on the English rendition of Chinese classics; studies on literary and cultural translation and their reception (I); studies on literary and cultural translation and their reception (II); studies on the political and technological services as well as teaching of translation. Deputy Dean Professor Li Chongyue served as the speaker of the parallel session of “Studies on the English rendition of Chinese classics”, who commented on the presentation of each speaker at the session. Associate Professor Feng Ruizhen and Associate Professor Dai Wenjing presented their papers at different parallel sessions respectively titled “A review on children literature translation in China in 21st century: status and perspective” and “Misreading and pleasure reading: a study of the English translation of the book title of Wen Xin Diao Long”. Their papers were highly commended by the speakers of their respective parallel session. Three postgraduate students majoring in translation studies attended the symposium as well. The rigorous scholarship and humorous style exhibited in the academic presentations of the JU faculty members and students at the annual meeting and symposium this year were well acclaimed by the specialists at the meeting.
