On the morning of March 30th, the School of Foreign Languages held on the patriotism education base of Jiangsu University a memorial activity whose theme is “Inheriting the Spirit of Patriotism by Visiting Mausoleums of Revolutionary Martyrs at the Qingming Festival.” The activity was held to show deep condolences to and endless admiration for the martyrs. Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong, Deputy Party Committee Secretary & Deputy Dean Xia Jianru, Deputy Dean Li Chongyue, as well as some faculty and student Party members, student leaders, and representatives of party activists participated in the commemoration. Deputy Party Committee Secretary Xia Jianru presided over the event.
After the ceremony began, all the participants made three bows to the Memorial to Martyr Wang Long and then student Party member Zhou Tianbao introduced the heroic deeds of Martyr Wang Long. Afterwards, all the communists present clenched their right hands and, headed by Comrade Zhu Yanjie, jointly relived “the Party oath” they had intoned when they joined the Party, pledging that they are determined to fight for the communist cause for life, are ready to sacrifice everything they own for the Party and the people, and will never turn against the Party. At the end of the memorial activity, the participants offered to Martyr Wang Long one by one in order their small white flowers in memory of the first mayor of Zhenjiang who had died for his country.
By cherishing the memory of the revolutionary martyr and reviewing the Party oath, all participants received a profound education of the revolutionary tradition. They all said that they must engrave on their minds the martyrs’ great deeds, inherit the legacy of the martyrs, cherish the present happy life, never forget the initial mission, be loyal to the Party, discipline themselves with high, strict standards, actively cultivate and practice the socialist core values, and do their bits to advance the construction of Jiangsu University into an international top-level research university with its own characteristics.
