One the afternoon of January 8, at the School Meeting Room the School of Foreign Languages held a Consultation Meeting for Members of Non-Communist Parties and Non-Party Personages. The meeting was chaired by Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong. Over 10 people attended the meeting, including members of democratic parties and non-party personages as well as the School leaders.
At the beginning, Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong headed the other participants of the meeting to study the gist of the 19th CPC National Congress, briefed the new challenges facing the development of the SFL, and invited the participants to contribute their ideas for the full-range development of the School in future. SFL Dean Chen Hong then summed up the achievements that have been made by the School in the year of 2017. She said, the year of 2017 is a transitional year for the School of Foreign Languages, for in the past year we were granted the right to confer an MA degree under the first-class discipline of Foreign Languages and Literatures, we made a breakthrough in offering international programs, the quality of our talent cultivation has been steadily on the rise, we have upgraded the structure of the undergraduate and the postgraduate English teaching against the globalized backdrop, we were qualified for holding the English Test for International Communication, our faculty members won a number of awards at the national teaching competition, and the extracurricular activities of our students won greater acclaim both on and off the campus. The participants gave full credit to the great progress that has been made by the School. They also offered their suggestions and voiced their opinions on the teaching, research, discipline construction, student administration, etc. of the School. Dean Chen Hong answered the questions of their concern, saying that the School administration would attach great importance to the suggestions and opinions of the participants in the coming year and work out practicable plans on these issues.
To conclude the meeting, Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong extended thanks to the constant support offered by the participants to the administrative and Party work of the School, and thanks to the many suggestions made and opinions voiced just at the meeting. He encouraged the participants to make more suggestions to the future work of the School. Last but not the least, he reiterated the importance of studying and implementing the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, the importance of keeping in mind our initial mission in the progress of working hard concertedly for the better and greater development of the School’s various undertakings.
