On October 26, Associate Director of China National Committee for Graduate Education of Translation and Interpreting (GETI) Zhao Junfeng, upon invitation, delivered a lecture titled “MTI Graduation Theses Writing: Principles and Application” online for the teachers and students of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL). The meeting was chaired by Li Chongyue, Dean of School of Foreign Languages.
Zhao Junfeng analyzed the current situation of MTI education, pointing out that the MTI education of universities across China still varies in talent training quality, even though clear guidelines and basic requirements have been released by GETI. Noting that connotation construction needs to be enhanced urgently, he expressed that faculty construction forms the cornerstone of translation talent training and required resolute efforts to follow the concept and principle of professional degree education. Moreover, graduation theses writing, as the last link of the cultivation of professional degree graduates, is extremely important.
Zhao illustrated the principles and application of MTI education, especially thesis writing, by combining his experiences in educational management, practice teaching and guidance on thesis writing he had accumulated from his work in a dozen years. All the teachers and MTI students of the School listened to the lecture and interacted actively with the speaker, from whom they benefited a lot.
