On October 30, all leaders, directors and deputy directors, cadres in the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) attended the October Monthly Meeting of Directors of Departments, which was chaired by Li Chongyue, the Dean.
Zhang Mingping, the Party Secretary of the School, pointed out in his speech that the purpose of holding regular meetings is to strengthen the communication between department and department, department and the School, striving to cooperate with colleges and coordinate with leaders better, unite efforts to seek common development, know towards what goal to stride forward, what to do and how to achieve.
Zhang Mingping called for tangible efforts in routine and fundamental work, making a spurt towards the development goal for the year of 2024 and laying out characteristic goals and long-term goals. According to the new assessment criterion, he stressed that no teacher can lie flat, and efforts should be made to engage in both teaching and research. Besides, every teacher should hold the bottom lines, prevent accidents and strengthen unity in an effort to create a clean and upright atmosphere. All department directors reported on the progress of the work since October, while all leaders briefed on student affairs, discipline construction, undergraduate teaching, graduate education, scientific research, faculty construction, internationalization efforts and social service.
Earlier this month, all departments have conducted activities with characteristics and achieved fruitful results. Notably, 1 undergraduate thesis was awarded the prize of provincial excellent degree thesis, an English major student has advanced to the national finals of the “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition and won an award for the first time, the School successfully held the 8th Congress of Jiangsu Translators Association and Academic Seminar, completed grant evaluation of scientific research program and teaching reform program approval and initiation grant of the School and invited a group of experts to give lectures to the School.
Li Chongyue, in his concluding remarks, called for consistent efforts to ensure school order stable, and the accreditation materials to the English (Education) Program are completed at one fling and high-quality.
