On the morning of October 15, Vice President Dong Hongchuan of Sichuan International Studies University, a PhD supervisor and second-grade professor, delivered in the Academic Hall of the School of Foreign Languages a lecture titled “A talk on project application, academic innovation and academic paper writing”. Dean Professor Chen Hong of the School of Foreign Languages presided over the seminar attended by students and faculty of the School.
Professor Dong started his lecture with the major issues concerning contemporary foreign language research and professional development. He elaborated on the application for a project sponsored by the National Social Science Fund, the paradigm shift in foreign language research and academic innovation, and the writing and publication of academic papers. The whole lecture of Professor Dong’s was full of farsightedness, passion, cordiality and wits, providing the audience ignorant of the flying time with nourishment for their insatiable mind.
Professor Dong Hongchuan is a panelist of the National Social Science Fund, a vice president of Chinese Translators’ Association, a vice president of China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese, president of China Association for Interface Studies in Foreign Languages, pace-setter of the English subject of Chongqing Municipality, a vice president of China Association for English Literature, and editor-in-chief of Foreign Language and Literature, one of the core foreign language journals in China. His visit to JSU will further promote the development of the foreign language principle in the University.
