On the evening of September 12, the postgraduates of the School of Foreign Languages and the Division of Contemporary Culture Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University held a joint seminar in the Meeting Room of the School. Deputy Dean Su Jianhong and Dean Assistant Wu Peng, as well as faculties and postgraduates of the Japanese Department attended the seminar. The Japanese participants included Professor Sugimoto Yoshihiko of Kyoto University and his party, 5 MA & PhD candidates. The seminar was chaired by Associate Professor Lu Xueying, director of of Modern Japan Research Center at the School of Foreign Languages.
At the seminar, two Japanese postgraduates and two Chinese postgraduates respectively from the Japanese Department and the English Department made presentations, on which the participants voiced their valuable opinions. English, Japanese and Chinese were spoken at the meeting that features a heated discussion on academic issues. After the meeting was over, the participants all said they had benefited a lot from it. The seminar is deemed to be a good opportunity for the School’s postgraduates to carry out exchanges and cooperation with foreign postgraduates, to propel the development of the “internationalization” of the School, and the make contributions to the construction of Jiangsu University into a high-level research-oriented “Double First-class” university with distinctive features.
