On the afternoon of June 1, Dean Zhang Yining of College Foreign Language Teaching Department, the School of Foreign Languages, Zhejiang University of Technology and his 3 entourages visited the School of Foreign Languages, JSU to exchange ideas on college English curriculum reform. Professor Chen Hong, dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Hua Houkun, Wu Peng, deans of the College English Teaching Departments, Li Jiajun and Kong Lingxuan, vice deans of the CET Departments, Wu Aihui, head of the Clinic for Foreign Language Learning attended the meeting with the visitors.
At the exchange meeting, Dean Chen Hong detailed the history of college English teaching in Jiangsu University and key notions of and concretes measures for the ongoing course reform, highlighting the graded and hierarchical teaching management model adopted within the compulsory credits for College English, development and docking of extended courses and advanced courses, operation of the clinic for foreign language learning, and graded and hierarchical teaching model on the EGAP, etc. Then the visitors from Zhenjiang University of Technology inquired the speaker of the concrete measures for college English reform of Jiangsu University. Heads of the CET Departments answered the questions raised by the visitors one by one, and offered by resorting to their own experiences pertinent suggestions on the college English teaching reform to be carried out in Zhenjiang University of Technology.
The visitors expressed heartfelt approval for the notion of “artisanship and partnership” upheld by the faculties of CET Departments of the School of Foreign Languages, JSU in carrying out the new round of college English teaching reform, showing great interest in the brand-new college English curriculum, the clinic for foreign language learning and the development of courses for the EGAP of Jiangsu University. They hoped to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with JSU on the construction of excellent programs for college English teaching.
