On the afternoon of November 16, 2023, a delegation of nine members from the English Teaching Team of the School of Humanities and Management at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, led by Director Qiao Lijuan, visited our School for research. Li Jiajun, Deputy Dean, Hua Houkun, Director of the Basic Department of College English, Li Meng, Director of the Foreign Language Learning Center, and Zhu Xiaoyu and Cai Shanshan, winners of the National Finals of the 2019 FLTRP “Teaching Star”Competition, along with Teaching Secretary Wang Haiying, participated in the research symposium.
Deputy Dean Li Jiajun expressed a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of the school and provided an overview of the Foreign Language School. During the research symposium, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on the ideological and political construction of the public English curriculum, the setting of the public English curriculum, and the construction and application of digital platforms. Li Jiajun first gave a comprehensive introduction to the initiation and development of ideological and political education in the public English curriculum. Director Hua Houkun reported on the tangible achievements to date and introduced the situation of ideological and political education in the public English curriculum. Zhu Xiaoyu and Cai Shanshan shared their experiences in designing ideological and political education in different types of public English courses. Director Li Meng provided a detailed explanation of the current use of digital platforms and systems in the School. Throughout the symposium, Director Qiao Lijuan and accompanying teachers raised a series of questions, fostering in-depth exchanges and exploring feasible approaches. After the symposium, the delegation visited the newly established “Virtual Simulation Training Room” and “Recording Classroom”at the school.
The visiting team expressed gratitude for the shared experiences and conveyed an intention for further cooperation and communication. This symposium holds significant importance for both institutions in advancing the construction of ideological and political education in the curriculum and the development and application of digital platforms.
