On the evening of April 27, the 2nd Japanese Film & Teleplay Dubbing Competition of the School of Foreign Languages was held in J210. Director Xu Decheng of the Investment Promotion Office, the Foreign Office of Zhenjiang and Professor Su Jianhong, a deputy dean of the School of Foreign Languages attended the competition, together with the faculties and students of the Japanese Department.
This competition is held for the purpose of promoting the communication of Japanese learners in Jiangsu University, raising the interest of Japanese learning, stimulating the enthusiasm for Japanese learning and enriching the cultural life on campus. Since the notice was publicized, all classes of the Japanese Department have been activated to get prepared for the competition, and finally 38 competitors were selected from Grade 1-3 of the Japanese majors to form 11 teams to participate in the competition. This competition is also the tryout for the 5th “Casino Cup” Jiangsu Institutions of Higher Learning Japanese Film & Teleplay Dubbing Competition. The winners of this competition will attend, on behalf of Jiangsu University, the “Casino Cup” Competition scheduled to open on May 20 in Jiangnan University. In order to attract more students, this competition offers 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 5 third prizes, 2 excellent prizes and 3 best organization prizes.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Dean Su Jianhong delivered a speech on behalf of the School, encouraging the competitors to brave the challenges and create record in the competition. Then the competitors began to do the dubbing on the film or teleplay they have chosen according to the lot drawn. The competitors in each team made efforts to dub the episode of a Japanese film or TV play in sweet and smooth voices, trying to represent by voice their favorite characters perfectly. The lecture hall was enlivened constantly by the storm of applause on the wonderful performance of the competitors, a visual and aural gala for the whole audience. The joining in the competition by the English majors and the dubbing on the Chinese film and teleplay works are two highlights of this competition. Through fierce rivalry, Wang Zhuoyin, Zou Shasha and Gao Yuzhu won a first prize by solid foundation, accurate and authentic pronunciation and beautiful intonation. Class 1402 and Class 1501 won the Best Organization Prize. Finally, Director Xu Decheng of the Investment Promotion Office, the Foreign Office of Zhenjiang and the Japanese expert Suiwa Suwa commented on the whole competition. Professor Wang Baotian and 8 other judges awarded the certificates of merit to the winners.
In recent years, in order to raise the interest of Japanese learning, inspire the enthusiasm of Japanese and cultivate the comprehensive use competency of the Japanese students, the Japanese Department has devoted itself to establishing a second classroom for Japanese learning on the principle of “competition to promote learning”. As a result, the Japanese Department has actually provided quality platforms to boost the campus culture of Jiangsu University.
The “Casino Cup” Jiangsu Institutions of Higher Learning Japanese Film & Teleplay Dubbing Competition was initiated in 2013 under the sponsorship of Casino (Shanghai) Trade Co., Ltd. It is undertaken by Jiangsu Branch of the China Society for Japanese Teaching and Research.
