From December 5-6, the “Annual Meeting of Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies & Foreign Affairs Committee under Jiangsu Writers Association” organized by Jiangsu University School of Foreign Languages was held at the International Hotel of Zhenjiang.
At 8:30 am, December 5, the meeting commenced, presided over by Jiangsu University School of Foreign Languages Dean Li Chongyue. Leaders including Jiangsu University Party Committee Deputy Secretary Professor Li Hongbo, President of Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies Professor Yang jincai, Jiangsu Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences Association Department Deputy Director He Guojun each delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
At 9:30, Nanjing University Professor Wang Shouren, Nanjing Normal University Professor Zhang Jie, Nanjing University Professor Dong Xiao, Jiangsu Normal University Professor Zou Huiling, Jiangsu University Professor Wu Qinghong, Nanjing Normal University Professor Yang Lixin and Nanjing University of Technology Professor Chen Shihua each made a keynote speech. National Defense University Professor Li Jianbo, Yancheng Normal University Professor Xue Jiabao and Nanjing University Professor He Ning chaired the keynote speeches in succession.
At 2:00 pm, heated discussions were conducted in six parallel sessions, where conferees voiced their opinions on frontier issues of literary criticism, the multidisciplinary new paradigm for foreign literary studies, the commonwealth writing in foreign literature, the literary creation during crises (such as epidemic, war and natural disasters).
On the morning of December 6, Soochow University Professor Zhu Xinfu, Hohai University Professor Cai Bin and Nanjing University of Post and Telecommunications Professor Wang Yukuo presided over the speeches respectively. The keynote speakers included Nantong University Professor Zhou Wenjuan, Soochow University Professor Song Yanfang, Jiangsu Institute of Science and Technology Professor Li Shunchun, Nanjing University Professor Cao Danhong, Hohai University Professor Hu Biyuan, Soochow University of Science and Technology Associate Professor Qi Liang, and Nanjing University Associate Professor Sun Hongwei. Then under the chairmanship of Nanjing Normal University Professor Yang Jing, representatives of each parallel session reported their discussions. Towards the end of the meeting, Jiangsu Association of Foreign Literature Studies Executive Vice President Yao Junwei made a concluding remark.
170 scholars from nearly 30 colleges and universities in Jiangsu province participated in the annual meeting this year. Epidemic prevention measures were taken in accordance with the related regulations of the government. Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, Yilin Press, the board of editors of Contemporary Foreign Literature, Nanjing Zheda Fangyuang Sci & Tech Co., Ltd offered great help to the meeting. The successful holding of this meeting helps reinforce the exchanges of foreign literary scholars in Jiangsu province and boost the development of foreign literary studies in China.
