On September 9, School of Foreign Languages held the Party and Administrative Joint Conference on Promoting the Formulation of the “14th Five-year Plan” and Setting the School Objectives and Tasks for 2020. School Party Committee Secretary Xie Zhifang presided over the meeting.
To begin with, Party Committee Secretary Xie Zhifang headed the participants to revisit the report entitled “Working Methods of the Party Committee” delivered by Comrade Mao Zedong at the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 7th CPC Central Committee. Then they together learned Secretary General Xi Jiping’s reply to Party committee secretaries and university presidents of and expert delegates from China’s institutions of higher learning concerning agriculture and Xi’s important instructions to Jiangsu University in particular. He also transmitted the contents of the September regular working conference of Jiangsu University Party Committee, focusing on the speech delivered by Party Committee Secretary Yuan Shouqi and other university leaders.
After Xie’s speech, Dean Li Chongyue summed up the work that has been done by the School on formulating the “14th Five-year Plan” in accordance with the Circular on Formulating the Educational Development Plan during the National “14th Five-year Plan” Period (2021-2025). He assigned the tasks for the next stage and made concrete requirements on the work. All the other participants voiced their opinions in view of their own tasks. Finally, Party Committee Secretary Xie Zhifang concluded the meeting by stressing that we should seize the opportunity of learning Secretary General Xi Jiping’s reply to Party committee secretaries and university presidents of and expert delegates from China’s institutions of higher learning concerning agriculture and Xi’s important instructions to Jiangsu University to fulfill the Party’s educational guidelines and the gist of the 4th Party Congress of Jiangsu University in the process of formulating the “14th Five-year Plan” of the School of Foreign Languages, to bring into full play the rallying and heading role of the plan in promoting the School cause. He required the Party and administrative leaders of the School to be politically staunch, to be harmoniously united, to be honest and earnest, to be eligible and energetic, and to make their best effort to promote the School educational cause and the “Double First-class” program of Jiangsu University.
Other issues that have been discussed at the meeting include the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, current situation of political ideology, work of the Working Committee for the Care of the Next Generation, pilot work of “Whole Staff, Whole Process and All-round Education”, reappointment of department leaders, regular epidemic prevention and control, security and stability, and so on.
