On October 16th, the School of Foreign Languages held the Salon on “Academic Ethics”. The salon was presided over by School of Foreign Languages Deputy Dean & Master’s Supervisor Professor Su Jianhong. All Grade 2019 postgraduate students attended the lecture.
In his lecture, Professor Su stressed the importance of observing the academic ethics, warning the students against the danger of violating them. According to him, the incidence of academic misconduct arises from the lack of awe for academic standards. He cited quite a few actual cases to warn students against committing academic misconduct. He also emphasized that academic ethics are the key to guaranteeing the long-term progress of students in their academic career. In writing a research paper, we must observe the established norms, guard against academic dishonorable behavior, and pay special attention to the literature citation. During the Q-A session, Professor Su answered the questions raised by the enthused students.
The lecture not only raised students’ consciousness of academic ethics, but also augmented their awe for the spirit of scientific research.
