On the afternoon of March 27, the School of Foreign Languages held the 3rd Plenary Session of the 5th Faculty and Trade Union Congress in Z513. More than 50 delegates and nonvoting delegates at both the School- and the University level attended the meeting chaired by the School Party Committee Deputy Secretary and Deputy Dean Xia Jianru.
The Congress commenced with the solemn and sonorous chorus of the national anthem. Dean Li Chongyue first made his report titled “Perceive Changes, Adapt to Changes and Take Initiative to Pursue Changes”, in which he summed up the 2018 work of the School from 9 aspects including Party construction, teaching, research and student work. His report not only displayed the efforts and achievements that had been made, but also put forward the objective of and strategies for implementing the gist of the 4th Party Congress of Jiangsu University and the work plan on the year of 2019. He called on the faculty and employees of the School to perceive changes in advance, actively adapt to changes and take initiative to pursue changes, doing whatever they could for the cause of the School. Then Trade Union Chairman Zhao Haihong made his working report, in which he summed up the achievements that had been made by the School Trade Union and the deficiencies existing in its work. Following Li’s and Zhao’s speeches, Party Branch Secretary Lu Yunsong put forward 4 requirements for future work in view of the current situation: 1. Making a profound study of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era; 2. Further implementing the gist of the 4th Party Congress of Jiangsu University; 3. Fortifying the confidence and promoting the high-quality, connotative development of the cause of the School; 4. Steadfastly promoting and strengthening the work of the Party self-discipline.
The Congress concluded with the chorus of “Union Is Power” by the delegation. The delegates were immersed in a fairly warm atmosphere of the School featuring “fraternity, safety and felicity”!
