On the morning of May 23, the 15th JSU Postgraduate Simulated International Academic Conference hosted by the Postgraduate English Teaching Department, the SFL was solemnly held in No. Lecture Hall of the University Meeting Center. JSU Vice President & the Graduate School Dean Professor Quan Li, School of Foreign Languages Dean Professor Chen Hong and leaders of other departments concerned attended the opening ceremony of the competition that welcomed the whole faculty of the Postgraduate English Teaching Department and representatives of all schools and colleges affiliated to JSU.
At the opening ceremony, Vice President Quan Li pointed out, “To degree of internationalization has become one of the most striking features of a top-notch university. In recent years Jiangsu University has been implementing the international strategy so that the number of students attending an academic conference overseas has drastically increased. The JSU Postgraduate Simulated Academic Conference serves as an international platform for the academic exchanges of high-level talents and helps broaden the academic scope of the postgraduate students.” The series international activities for JSU postgraduates that begins in March each year comprises competitions on the simulation of academic posters, the writing of key points and academic speeches for an international academic conferences. The competitions this year attracted more than 800 postgraduates in different teams from all over the campus, including Chinese and foreign students. The addition of a team tutor this year helps raise the professional level of the competitions. Two teams respectively from the Overseas Education College and the School of Electrical & Information Engineering won a first prize for the academic speech. At the closing ceremony, SFL Postgraduate English Teaching Department Dean Chen Xin remarked from a professional perspective on the wonderful performance of all contestants as well as the ingenuity of the competition design offered a wonderful commentary.
The JSU Simulated Postgraduate International Academic Conference is well acclaimed by both theChinese and international students for its plentiful activities, rigorous competition regulations and advanced notion. It is a brand competition that constitutes the innovative educational practice for the postgraduate programs of Jiangsu University, which helps forcefully propel the escalation of the internationalized postgraduate education of Jiangsu University to a higher level.
