The National Test of Japanese Major Band 4 (NSS-4) is a national Japanese major examination organized and implemented by the Japanese Language Group of the Examination Office for Foreign Language Majors in Colleges and Universities. The test has been implemented since 2002, aiming to promote teaching reform in Japanese majors and improve teaching quality. Students participating in the unified test must be second-year undergraduate students majoring in Japanese and registered in ordinary colleges and universities. This test has become an important indicator for evaluating the undergraduate teaching quality at the foundational stage of Japanese majors in colleges and universities.
The excellent results achieved in this Japanese Major Band 4 test are the outcome of the joint efforts of both teachers and students in the Japanese Department, reflecting the outstanding teaching effectiveness at the foundational stage of the Japanese major. Within the four-year university period, the majority of Japanese major students will participate in the National College Japanese Major Band 4 Unified Test (NSS-4), National College Japanese Major Band 8 Unified Test (NSS-8), Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 2 (N2), and Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 1 (N1). The Band 4 and Band 8 tests are only open to registered students majoring in Japanese, while the Japanese Language Proficiency Tests are open to learners whose native language is not Japanese.
Against the backdrop of the optimization and adjustment of university majors, the Japanese major will emphasize cultivating students' fundamental skills in Japanese and continuously enhance their comprehensive application abilities of the language. Faculty members in the department will be fully dedicated to improving the professional satisfaction and learning outcomes of Japanese major students.
