On the afternoon of April 18th, the School of Foreign Languages and the Teacher Education Center jointly held a mobilization meeting for the 2021 English teacher education majors’ internship in Room 404 of Sanshan Building. Mao Yanfeng, Director of the Virtual Teaching and Research Office of the English Department and English Teacher Education Practice Course, Yin Hua, Deputy Director of the Teacher Education Center Office, Duan Shuanggeng, Director of the Teaching Affairs Office of Dagang Middle School, representatives of the English Department internship guidance teachers, and all 2021 English students attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Li Xia, who is in charge of English teacher education.
The mobilization meeting was divided into two stages. In the first stage, Li Xia gave a lecture on "pre-departure education for educational internships". She provided specific explanations and guidance to all teacher trainees in terms of educational internship arrangements, discipline, assessment, and material submission. Mao Yanfeng made clear requirements for the attending students in terms of work discipline, interpersonal communication, and the use of the Xiaoyoubang Internship Platform during the internship period. Associate Professor Wang Xiang, a representative of the guiding teachers, emphasized the importance of educational internships in enhancing the teaching abilities of teacher trainees. He hoped that teacher trainees would cherish internship opportunities and strive to improve their teaching literacy.
In the second stage, Duan Shuanggeng gave a lecture on "Entering Schools and Classrooms ---A Teacher’s Professional Growth from the Perspective of Core Competencies". He provided a detailed introduction to the new curriculum, new textbooks, and new college entrance examination plan, elaborated on the repositioning of teacher development under core competencies and the transformation of the role of class teachers, and shared the cultural construction and moral education of Dagang Middle School. After the lecture, Li Xia presented a lecture invitation letter to Duan Shuanggeng.
The convening of this mobilization meeting not only launched the internship journey of junior normal students, but also made an attempt to explore the educational practice and teaching system of "Higher Education Institutions---Local Government ---Primary-Secondary Schools (UGS) Collaborative Education and Co-construction" by the School of Foreign Languages. In the future, the School of Foreign Languages will further strengthen cooperation with local governments and primary and secondary schools, integrate resources, coordinate development, promote high-quality development of teacher trainees, and enhance the quality of talent cultivation.
