On April 16th, China Tao Xingzhi Research Association's "14th Five-Year Plan" special project application seminar on "Reading and Teacher Development" was successfully held at Dagang Middle School in Jiangsu Province. The seminar was organized by the Education Bureau of Zhenjiang City and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. Huang Xinyan, General Manager of the Basic Education Department of Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, Wang Junyi, Director of the Education Bureau of Zhenjiang City, Liu Chaojin, Dean of the Teacher Development College of Zhenjiang City, deans and teachers from Jiangsu University School of Foreign Languages and other three universities, as well as principals and teachers of ten primary and secondary schools including Dagang Middle School and Zhenjiang No.1 Middle School, attended the meeting.
Dean Li Chongyue shared the reading status of in-service foreign language teachers and pre-service English teachers at the meeting, particularly pointing out the shortcomings of pre-service English teachers in reading literary classics and proposing solutions. He called on teachers to enhance their logical thinking and promote professional development through extensive reading. Finally, Dean Li Chongyue expressed sincere gratitude to several high schools that supervised our pre- service English teachers' internships.
Vice Dean Li Xia gave a special coaching lecture on "Education Project Application: Topic Selection and Research Plan" at the meeting. She reported on what educational research topics are, why educational research topics are conducted, and how to apply for educational research topics. Taking the research results in her monograph "Case Study of Narrative Learning of College English Teachers from the Perspective of Social and Cultural Theory" as an example, she called on teachers to eliminate impatience, focus on teaching, concentrate on research, and improve professional competence through research and teaching linkage. His sharing was highly praised by the teachers present.
This seminar further deepened the integrated cooperation and co-construction between university, government, publishing house, and primary and secondary schools. In the future, the School of Foreign Languages will strengthen cooperation with the governments, publishing houses, and primary and secondary schools to promote the application of research projects for primary and secondary school teachers and the training of pre-service English teachers. This will help improve the professional competence of primary and secondary school teachers and pre-service English teachers, and contribute to the development of education.
