December 9-10, the 12th Academic Forum for Foreign Language Graduates of Jiangsu Institutions of Higher Learning was held at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Headed by Professor Su Jianhong and Professor Li Chongyue, two deputy deans of the SFL, 5 graduates participated in the academic forum. Hou Lusha, under the guidance of her supervisor Wu Peng, won a second prize at the forum for her paper titled “A pragma-dialectical approach to the detached argumentation in a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s replies”. Li Wei and Pan Siye won an excellent prize respectively.
Professor Chen Xinren from Nanjing University, Professor Wu Gefei from China University of Mining and Technology, Professor Wang Jinquan from Yangzhou University, Professor Li Xiaoxiang from Southeast University, and Professor Xin Bin from Nanjing Normal University each delivered a wonderful lecture at the forum on topics like literature review and academic innovation, topic selection and academic writing, graduates' academic development, etc. SFL Grade 16 MA candidates Hou Lusha and Li Wei spoke at the parallel sessions of linguistics and translation respectively. The other 3 graduates introduced their papers submitted to the forum at their parallel sessions.
All 5 participants from JU said at the forum they not only tempered their academic communicative ability, but also learned a lot from the lectures delivered by the specialists as well as papers submitted to the forum by other graduates, thus acquiring precious knowledge and approaches for their future research and learning.
