Days ago, the 2017 “FLTRP Cup” Uchallenge for Jiangsu Division came to an end. After three consecutive weeks of fierce competition, JSU students did a good job by winning prizes at the English writing, reading and public speaking competitions that comprise the Uchallenge.
At the English writing contest for Jiangsu Division held at Nanjing Forestry University on October 21, the School of Management Grade 2015 student He Chong won a second prize, and the School of Foreign Languages Grade 2015 students Zhou Jingjing, Liu Luqiao and Chen Yongli and Grade 2016 student Li Congyin won a third prize. At the English reading contest for Jiangsu Division held at Nanjing University of Science and Technology on October 28, He Chong stood out from the 125 contestants and won a first prize; the School of Foreign Languages Grade 2014 student Lv Wenxin and the Grade 2015 student Dong Yuyang won a third prize; the Medical School Grade 2016 student Li Xinyu won an excellent prize. The English public speaking contest for Jiangsu Division held at Changzhou University from November 2 to 3 was even fiercer. The two-day competition welcomed 156 contestants from colleges and universities in Jiangsu province. The School of Computer Grade 2016 students Zhou Hailun and Chang Zhou and the Medical School Grade 2015 student Ye Xiaohan won an excellent prize.
The “FLTRP Cup” Uchallenge comprise the “FLTRP Cup” National English Public Speaking Contest, the “FLTRP Cup” National English Writing Contest, and the “FLTRP Cup” National English Reading Contest. It is a public competition jointly hosted and organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, Beijing Waiyan Online Education Technology Co., Ltd, National Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education, National Advisory Board on Teaching English Language to Majors in Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, and National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education. It is a competition platform created by the FLTRP for young participants to challenge themselves, to improve themselves, and to be themselves. The three contests have ranked among the most important events in Jiangsu University that help promote college students’ comprehensive quality of English language and culture, make the best of their language potentials, enrich the campus culture, and boost the undergraduate teaching quality. Great importance has been attached to them by leaders of the School as well as the University. The JSU prize winners have demonstrated their wonderful performance in English and their strong presence at the 2017 Uchallenge for Jiangsu Division.
