July 12-15, the 2017 Summer Vacation National (Jiangsu) College Foreign Language Teacher Development Forum sponsored by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press was held in Tai’an, Shangdong province. About 300 teachers from Jiangsu province attended the meeting. With the theme of “Teacher development on the basis of teaching and research”, the Forum held discussions as well as an academic paper appraisal. 12 faculties of the School of Foreign Languages attended the forum, among whom Professor Zhong Lanfeng from the Department of English Education and Associate Professor Zhang Mingquan from the Department of English submitted their research papers that later respectively won a grand and a first prize.
As one of the most prestigious foreign language publishers, Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press (the SFLEP) pioneers the reform on China’s college English teaching and promotes the professional development of China’s college English teachers. Each year the “National College Foreign Teacher Development Forum” jointly sponsored by the SFLEP and China Research Center for Foreign Language Textbooks and Teaching Methodology brings benefit to nearly 10,000 foreign language teachers, taking an active part in promoting their quality, raising their teaching level, and deepening the reform on China’s college English teaching.
