July 15-August 20, 16 faculties of the Center for International Language Courses at the School of Foreign Languages enrolled in the course of British Council IELTS Teacher Essentials jointly launched by the British Council and the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. The whole faculty finally passed the course examinations with very high grades and were granted the official certificates issued by the British Council for IELTS teachers in China.
The British Council IELTS Teacher Essentials is a required course for IELTS teachers in China officially offered by the British Council, one of the sponsors of the IELTS. Designed and developed by distinguished experts of English instruction of the British Council, this program is aimed at helping the teacher trainees to better understand the IELTS and the teaching principles for English, promoting their awareness of different teaching approaches to and different problems arising from the practical English teaching work, and helping examinees to further promote their communicative ability in English and getting higher scores in the IELTS.
This program adopts a blended learning model comprising “3-hour online lecture + online learning (30 hours) + offline learning (3 days). At the offline workshop, faculties of Jiangsu University were actively involved in the group organization, discussion, speeches and shows, where they fully exhibit their plentiful teaching experiences and creative ability. Their performance was universally commended by colleagues from different colleges and universities, and distinguished IELTS trainers, experts and consultants. After receiving this training, the Center for International Language Courses was certified as one of the “IELTS partners”, and cooperation intention agreements were signed on the IELTS teaching and the training of advanced English teachers between the two parties involved.
