June 1, the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages held in the Meeting Room a defense on recruiting student Party members for the first half of the year 2017. Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong and Deputy Party Committee Secretary & Deputy Dean Xia Jianru, as well as secretaries of the English Department Undergraduates Party Branch, the Japanese Department Undergraduates Party Branch, and Grade 16 Graduates Party Branch together acted as the judges of the defense. 6 Party member candidates attended the defense presided over by Party Committee Secretary Lu Yunsong.
The defense is comprised of three stages, that is personal statement, questions & answers, and evaluation & scoring. To begin with, each Party member candidate gives a 3-minute personal statement, in which he or she will report on his personal information, motivation for joining the Party, daily performance and prospect into the future. Then the judges will ask him or her questions ranging from articles in the Party Constitution, the history of the CPC, fundamental guidelines and policies of the CPC, current affairs, to the recent work of the University Youth League. The questions closely related to the life and work of the defender will fully demonstrate his or her level of political theory and insight into and capability of analyzing and understanding the hot issues of our society. The 6 candidates have been fully prepared for the defense, for they answered these questions composedly, as a result displaying their excellent qualities of all aspects. The judges conscientiously scored the Party member candidates and their scores would form the important basis for recruiting them into the Party.
Deputy Party Committee Secretary Xia Jianru made comments on the defense. He was fairly positive about the scores and performance of these Party member candidates in the defense, hoping that they would further strengthen their study on political theory and academic courses, discipline their conduct in accordance with the criteria for a Party member, do more work for the School and their own classes actively, exercise their comprehensive capabilities, act as a paragon in everything, and strive to become a Party member as soon as possible.
