On the afternoon of May 19 before the Dragon Boat Festival, the School of Foreign Languages sent Zhu Wen, Yao Wei and Shi Yingjuan to visit the needy in Dongwu Community of Zhenjiang on behalf of the Faculty Party Branch of the English Department, the Faculty Party Branch of the Graduate Foreign Language Teaching Department and the Undergraduates’ Party Branch of the English Department, and Grades 14 & 15 Graduates Party Branch. Their visit is part of the effort termed “One-for-One Help” made by the Chinese government to help the needy..
Accompanied by Deputy Party Committee Secretary Deng Rongcai of the Dongwu Community, the three representatives held talks with the families in need of help. Then they gave the donations comprising of rice, edible oil and money to the needy families, showed the concern and offered the help of the Party to them. In the meanwhile, they encouraged them to be optimistic about their lives and have more confidence and determination to overcome the temporary difficulties. The needy families in return extended heartfelt thanks to the visitors from JSU, saying that they would be stronger to face the difficulty and believe that tomorrow will be better than ever before.
The visit is part of the effort made by the School of Foreign Languages Party Committee to reinforce the“Party building studies” in the light of “Notice about carrying out the activity of‘mobilizing ten thousand Party branches to help ten thousand particularly poor households’to strive for a relatively comfortable life” issued by Jiangsu University Party Committee, a significant job done by the grassroots Party branches to put the theoretical studies into practice, to maintain close ties with the masses, and to further promote the construction of a harmonious society.
