On October 21, the School of Foreign Languages held the 10thFaculty Teaching Contest in A201, with a view to further strengthen the faculty construction of the School and constantly upgrade their teaching level.
The competition was presided over by Wu Peng,deputy dean of the School of Foreign Languages.A total of 7 contestantsparticipated in the contest, respectivelyfrom the English Department, English Education Department, Japanese Department, European LanguagesDepartment, College English TeachingDepartment I, College English TeachingDepartment IIand Graduate English Teaching Department. Su Jianhong, deputy dean of the Overseas Education College and leader ofthe Discipline of ForeignLanguagesandLiteratures, Li Xinchao, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Office,University SuperintendentsXu KangmeiandZhang Qi’an, andretired teacherWei Juhong of the School of Foreign Languagesserved as judges of the contest.
All thecontestantshadcarefully preparedtheir teaching,made the best of theiradvantages, adopted a variety of teaching methods, and actively integratedcourseideology and politicsintolanguage teaching.They delivered their resourceful lectures in vivid expressions and a gracious style,showing the solid professional foundation and outstanding teachingcapabilityof thefaculty of the School of Foreign Languages.The judges and experts gave scoresto the participants in view of theirteaching design, teaching content, teaching display, language teaching attitude, etc. 1 first prize (Li Xia), 2 second prizes (Wang YuechengandYan Linqiong), and 4 prizes (Li Ya, Yao Qin, Su ZhenjunandZhong Jiabao)were finally awarded to the contestants.
Towards the end of the competition, Deputy Director Li Xinchao, Deputy Dean Su Jianhong, and Superintendent Zhang Qi’an respectively made detailed comments on the contest. They fully affirmed the outstanding performance of the contestants, but they also pointed out some deficiencies of theirs. In addition,they offered valuable suggestions to their future work. Finally, Xie Zhifang, Party Committee secretary of the School of Foreign Languages, made a brief summary on the contest, pointing out that the School will continue to care for and support the teaching work in the future. He encouraged all teachers to strengthen their studies, improve their professional quality, and strive to become an excellent foreign language teacher for the new era.
