Symposium on High-Quality Development of the Belt and Road Initiative hosted by the Counselors' Office of the State Council (China-ASEAN) was held in Beijing on July 11. The theme of this symposium was "Building a Higher-Level Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and a Closer China-ASEAN Community with a Shared Future". Gao Yu, Party Secretary and Director of the Counselors' Office of the State Council, attended the symposium and delivered a speech. Xu Bu, Chairman of the Global Development and Security Institute of Jiangsu University, was invited to participate in the symposium.
Director Xu Bu pointed out that since the establishment of the dialogue relationship between China and ASEAN in 1991, bilateral relations have developed rapidly. Currently, both sides have become each other's most important economic and trade cooperation partners. ASEAN countries, with a large population and a vast market, are striving to catch up with the momentum of the new round of technological revolution. China and ASEAN have broad prospects for cooperation in clean energy, digital economy, infrastructure construction, and other fields. Xu Bu emphasized that it is noteworthy that the United States is attempting to sow discord and undermine the economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, as well as disrupt peace, security, and stability in the Asia-Pacific region. China and ASEAN countries should strengthen high-level interactions, deepen economic and trade cooperation, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, focus closely on economic development, and continuously improve the level of economic development of countries in the region.
