On May 20th, Dean Li Chongyue, Vice Dean Li Jiajun, English Department Director Mao Yanfeng, and Executive of English Education Major Li Xia visited the school’s Teaching Practice Base in Zhenjiang No.1 High School. Zhang Hongxia, vice principle of Zhenjiang No.1 High School, Sima Lingyun, head of the foreign language teaching group, and Song Chao, head of the administration group and other teachers warmly welcomed the SFL visitors.
At the meeting, the workstation plate was unveiled. Based on the preliminary discussions, the School of Foreign Languages and Zhenjiang No.1 High School decided to make joint efforts to build the English Teaching and Research Workstation in order to promote the teaching and research abilities both of the pedagogical students and in-service teachers. The workstation is affiliated to the Jiangsu English Course Base for Multidimensional Teaching Learning Research and Evaluation and it will carry out teaching and research activities either in a regular or irregular basis.
After the unveiling ceremony, the School had a meeting with the students to learn about the current internship situation of the 14 pedagogical students from SFL at Zhenjiang No.1 High School. Dean Li encouraged these students to learn teacher ethics in the practice and to ask their supervisors for advice whenever they are faced with problems during the internship. He also suggested they do more observation, more thinking, more practice and more reflection and apply the teaching theories and skills to practice. Dean Li expressed the hope that the students could not only promote themselves, but also improve their capacity to impart knowledge and educate people.
The School of Foreign Languages will further bolster cooperation with the foreign language teaching group on the basis of strengthening the construction of teaching practice base, in order to promote the development of foreign language subjects on both sides and the cultivation of pedagogical students.
