On the morning of November 21, Ms. Cai Shanshan of CET Department I, the School of Foreign Languages gave a demo lesson of “College English” in Room 303 of the Main Building to an undergraduate class of Grade 2016. A number of faculty members of the School at the lecture participated in the heated after-class discussion.
The teaching content of the lecture is Lesson 7 “Energy Crisis” of New Times College English IV. According to the students’ proficiency in English and the teaching contents, Ms. Cai divided her lecture into several steps, trying to teach her students through lively activities that might energize her students and encourage them to speak out their minds. Towards the end of her lecture Ms. Cai summed up what she had taught in the lesson and assigned the homework for the students. Ms. Cai spoke fluent English all along, resorting to both verbal and nonverbal communication to deliver an endearing and enlightening lecture.
After the open class, the observers conducted a collective review of it. All agreed that Ms. Cai Shanshan is well equipped with professional knowledge, has a natural teaching style, her interactions with students are various and numerous, and she is capable of making her teaching contents properly and flexibly integrated. So her lecture won a high praise from all the teachers coming to observe her class.
