Objective: Students with B. A. shall command the basics of Japanese language and culture, become talents with Japanese expertise, and be competent for positions of diplomacy, international business, cultural exchange, publications, education, academic studies, and administration.
Features: Through four years of study, the Japanese majors shall command the basic theories and knowledge in Japanese language, literature, history, politics, economy, diplomacy, social culture, etc., shall be specially trained in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation. The Japanese specialty highlights the training of language skills and educational capability, paying special attention to the training of students’ capability of self-study. The Japanese majors shall be competent in processing the Japanese language with computers, master basic methods for scientific research, and command professional skills for translation, research and management, an excellent professional quality and a strong capability for Japanese communication.

Further Study: The Japanese majors may choose to further their studies by applying for the MA program in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics offered by the School of Foreign Languages.
