I. Overview
The Institute of Applied Linguistics was founded in March 2010 with Zhong Lanfeng as director and 12 other staffs from the School of Foreign Languages for the purpose of promote studies on linguistics and applied linguistics. It sets as its aim the fundamental researches and applications of language by focusing on Systemic-Functional Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, Bilingual Dictionary-making, and Foreign Language Learning and Teaching. In recent years, great achievements have been made in academic discourse analysis, genre and rhetoric, practical English writing and identity construction, and linguistic competence and scale formulation.
